About Us
Optimum Systems was founded in 2004 when companies that knew us began to request help solving technical problems. Since that time, we have grown to serve a diverse array of distributors that have come to rely on our services. We've built our reputation based on a commitment to provide best-of-class solutions and satisfying results to our customers.
Below you'll find more on the background and experience of some of us who make up the Optimum Systems team.
Roy Olsen
Roy began his career in information technology with a distributor who just purchased the latest revolution in technology, the IBM XT! It was 1984 and Roy began automating the distributor's business operations which had previously all been done manually. Gone were the handwritten invoices that customers struggled to read!
Not only did many manual tasks disappear, but Roy designed new statements that provided a clear picture of customer charges. The result was a big drop in questions customers had about their statements and a dramatic decrease in outstanding receivables.
Since that time Roy has helped many small businesses, corporations and government agencies to use technology to streamline and enhance their operations. They found in Roy someone with a great deal of technical expertise who also grasps the business problems they're trying to solve and explains potential solutions in terms they can understand.
Roy joined Eclipse, Inc. in the late 90's and was eager to become part of growing company with a strong emphasis on customer service and satisfaction. While at Eclipse he helped improve internal operations by writing programs that made it easier for people to get their jobs done. One of the accomplishments he's most proud of is developing the software used to convert new customers' data from their old system to Eclipse.
Before the conversion system each company's conversion involved hours of custom programming just to get the basic data from their old system. Roy reinvented this process so that a standard set of programs can be readily adapted to meet the needs of each situation. Not only has the conversion process become less expensive for customers, but it's now easier to accommodate each company's specific requirements. Additionally, this change allows conversions to be proofed ahead of time which has significantly reduced the number of suprises that occur when companies go live on Eclipse.
After 9 years at Eclipse, Roy joined Optimum Systems where he gains a great deal of satisfaction helping companies use technology more effectively. By using his technical abilities to help people improve their businesses, Roy feels that he's part of winning team.
A resident of Colorado, Roy lives in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains where he can't get enough of the natural surroundings and gorgeous views. He's an avid hiker and a student of Qigong, an ancient Chinese practice for health and self-development.
John Hanna
Beginning in the late 70's with IBM's System 36, John's experience in information technology spans almost 30 years. He started while running a small distribution business then took the position of General Manager and Chief of Information Technology when it merged with another company a few years later. When Prophet 21 became available John was impressed by the capabilities it offered and decided to convert his company from the SCO system they currently had. He soon gained considerable expertise using P21 to run a distribution business.
Not long after that, John accepted a position as a sales representative with Prophet 21. He was given the task of working with existing customers and helping them migrate to the latest offering - Prophet 21 Acclaim.
The approach he took with his customers proved to be highly successful. John didn't just make a sale and move on to the next prospect. He took the time to shepherd his customers through the implementation process and make sure the system was performing to their satisfaction. Afterwards he stayed involved with his customers and continued to help when they encountered technical challenges. He became an important resource for many companies running Prophet 21 and quite a few were particularly disappointed when John left the company.
A few years after leaving Prophet 21 one of his former customers asked John to train a new employee when their AP clerk left. He agreed to help and began an ongoing relationship providing technical assistance. That was the beginning of Optimum Systems and the company is still one of our clients today.
In addition to our first client, several other former P21 customers of John's have become clients of Optimum Systems. They trust John's ability to understand their business issues and depend on him to provide solutions for the technical problems they have. As someone who enjoys helping companies use technology more effectively, John finds his work at Optimum Systems genuinely rewarding.
John and his family live in suburban Atlanta where he enjoys kayaking and cycling, when given the opportunity. He's also known as a lifelong fan of Georgia Bulldogs Football.
